Dear Sandy B- A few months ago my friend discovered that her two kids had been smoking pot for almost a year. I thought she was going to lose her mind. Her son is in middle school and the daughter is still in elementary school. Apparently the son had been giving it to his younger sister. They were getting the pot from a neighbor. Well, my friend went berserk. She cut off all of her son’s hair and left him with a baldy and did the same with her daughter.
The daughter had a gorgeous head of hair which hung to the middle of her back. She was left with about an inch long curly afro. The kids were devastated and cried for days. To add, my friend didn’t give her kids nothing for Christmas. They were so sad on Christmas Day, I keep wondering if she went too far. What do you think about how she handled this situation?

Dear Dyanna: I think your friend should be given a medal for sockin’ it to her kids. Think about how her daughter might look as a junkie with a gorgeous head of hair. What she did to her son wasn’t even enough for givin’ that mess to his lil’ sister. I might have made him sleep in a tent in the yard. I’m glad she didn’t snap out and beat the mess out of them, ‘cause she might have gone to jail, she was so pissed off. I think girlfriend was right on it. The message they got from mama is that, “you can act the fool if you want to, but mama don’t play that”.
Dear Sandy B: It’s that time again, when folks start thinking about what New Year’s resolution they should make. Each year I make several resolutions and I barely get past a week or two with any of them. Why is it that we feel that we should make all kinds of resolutions each year, when most time folks don’t stick to them?

Dear Evelyn: First of all, ain’t nobody makin’ you make all those resolutions. If you try stickin’ to one, you just might make it. Two, have you ever made a negative resolution? I don’t think so. For example, if you make a resolution to keep your house clean and keep it for just one week; you have succeeded. Why? Because at least yo’ house got one good cleanin’. My friend resolutions are all about tradition. We like to think that a new year will bring about new and better changes in our lives. If each of us makes just one positive resolution, that sounds good to me. Happy New Year!
