Keeping Orlando moving continues to be a priority for the City of Orlando. By providing multi-modal forms of transportation, those who live, work and play in Orlando have a variety of options for getting around the City.
Part of this effort includes the City’s commitment to investing and improving our current infrastructure. To further this, Downtown Orlando’s newest bus rapid transit line, the LYMMO Lime Line, will begin construction next week.
The new Lime Line will increase mobility in Orlando’s urban core, connect to other existing transit options such as SunRail and Bike Share and provide another affordable transportation alternative to using a car and increasing access to jobs and opportunity, promoting active lifestyles and reducing our impact on the environment.
The expansion of the Lime Line will add nine stops and 2.1 miles of service and connect the Parramore and Callahan neighborhoods to the Central Business District, SunRail, U.S. Courthouse, FAMU College of Law, State Office Complex, Amway Center and Creative Village.
Once operational in late 2016, the Lime Line is expected to move 1,500 passengers daily and will operate with 10 minute service during peak hours and 15 minutes in off-peak hours evenings and weekends.
It happens TODAY, at 2pm, at the old Amway Arena Construction site, Amelia Street between Hughey Avenue and Parramore Avenue
Federal Transit Administration Acting Administrator Therese McMillan , Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill, LYNX CEO John M. Lewis Jr.. and other Orlando City Commissioners will be in attendance.
